New Hybrids

I could do with some advice on how to register a new brug,I have been cross pollinating for a while and two noids that I found to have pleasing shape colour and scent have produced a plant with deep gold triple flowers,(more by luck than design).What is the procedure for naming and registering now that abads is on hold?.

Wow Eric!  Congratulations to that beauty!!!  She has a clear color which is not often seen in doubles. I like her  :D

When Alistair is back, he will be able to answer your question about registering Brugmansia in the future. He is in England right now and goes from there to Spain and from there to Ecuador, still doing research for our book.

It is quiet here at the moment. I am busy outside with the garden and the Brugmansia and in the evening, I am working on my part of the book and this Saturday, Brugmansia friends come to visit to the annual gathering.

Alistair and I have discussed this matter. He said, that the correct description would be ' with double flowers', no matter how many skirts are inside. We can mention in the description, that the cultivar is forming sometimes or often flowers with a third or maybe fourth skirt or layer inside. In German, it is not a skirt but a 'filling' or stuffing', we talk about filled flowers not doubles.

I really do like your brug. I have looked at the other flowers in the background. They do not only have a beautiful color but also a very nice shape.

Thank you Monika,the flowers are a very deep gold colour the screen shows the colour quite accurately,I only have the small rhs colour chart it doesn't really match it's somewhere between22a and 23a.

That sounds great! Bolero sometimes has 4 to 5 skirts inside and only three of them can be seen. Those flowers lack the stigma and the anthers.

Sorry for being late in replying but on Friday/Saturday and Sunday, the Brugmansia friends of the forum came to the annual gathering in my garden.  A special guest was Christa from Florida.  :D
